Privacy Policy

InnerLight ("the App") is designed to keep your personal information private and under your control. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App handles, how it is stored, and what choices you have.

Summary

InnerLight does not collect, transmit, or share your personal data with anyone — including us, the developer. Everything you enter into the App stays on your device or in your own private iCloud container.

Data that stays on your device

The following data is created and stored locally on your device:

  • Journal entries (text and voice recordings)
  • Mood check-in history
  • Intentions and onboarding preferences
  • Practice progress and lesson completion state
  • Parts work dialogue entries
  • App settings and preferences

This data is never transmitted to the developer, any server, or any third party.

Journal encryption

Journal text entries are additionally encrypted at the app layer with a locally held key before being written to persistent storage on your device.

Optional iCloud backup

If you choose to enable iCloud backup, your data is stored in your private CloudKit container. This is a storage area tied to your personal Apple ID that only you can access. The developer cannot read, access, or retrieve data from your private CloudKit container.

You can disable iCloud backup at any time in the App's settings. You can also export your data locally or delete it entirely.

Optional data export

The App offers a data export feature so you can save a copy of your journal and practice data. Export options include a passphrase-protected format and a plaintext JSON format (with an explicit warning). Exported files are created on your device and are not transmitted anywhere.

Apple HealthKit

If you grant permission, the App can read certain HealthKit data (such as sleep and activity patterns) to surface optional, gentle support suggestions. This HealthKit data is:

  • Read on-device only — never transmitted off your device
  • Never used for advertising, marketing, or data brokering
  • Never stored in iCloud or any cloud service
  • Never shared with third parties

HealthKit access is entirely optional. The App functions fully without it. (HealthKit features are available on iOS only.)

Payment processing

If you choose to subscribe to InnerLight Circle, all payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on the platform you use. InnerLight does not collect, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or billing address at any point.

Your subscription status is verified on-device using the platform's transaction API (StoreKit on iOS, Google Play Billing Library on Android). No subscription status data is transmitted to the developer.

Analytics and tracking

InnerLight does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

The App uses only Apple's first-party diagnostic frameworks (os.Logger and MetricKit) for crash reporting and performance monitoring. These diagnostics never include your journal content, mood data, health information, or any other personal content.

No accounts or sign-up

InnerLight does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in. There is no user registration of any kind.

App Lock

The App offers an optional App Lock feature using Face ID or Touch ID. This is an in-app access gate and app-switcher privacy screen. It does not add a separate encryption layer to stored data beyond the existing journal encryption.

Community features

Community features exist in the App's codebase but are disabled and hidden in the current release. No user-generated content is shared, posted, or synchronized. If community features are enabled in a future update, this Privacy Policy will be updated before launch.

Children's privacy

InnerLight is not directed at children under 13. The term "inner child" refers to a therapeutic concept for adults exploring their emotional development, not to content designed for minors.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
